The Colorado Association of School Boards award is given to school board members who go the extra mile in serving their school communities, and Sheri Noyes received the award for 2024.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n

The Montezuma-Cortez Board of Education has announced that board President Sheri Noyes has been awarded the Colorado Association of School Boards\u2019 McGuffey Award.<\/p>\n

The award, according to CASB, was created to honor board members who go the extra mile in serving their school communities while showing a heart for all children and working to make a difference in the community in which they serve.<\/p>\n

In the email announcing Noyes\u2019 award, the district noted that Noyes is \u201chighly active\u201d in the community and stays informed on what the community needs, while battling \u201csignificant personal challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSheri has been an exceptional leader and role model for RE-1. Under her guidance, the district has seen every building advance at least one academic level and experienced a significant increase in attendance rates,\u201d the award letter said. \u201cThrough her leadership, the district has implemented two base pay increases and is currently pursuing a bond for a new elementary building and a mill levy increase to further our salary goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noyes is the director for District F. According to the district\u2019s website, she was born in Cortez and resides in Pleasant View. She attended Cortez schools for her entire education and graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1989.<\/p>\n

Her son graduated from M-CHS in 2013, and her daughter in 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer mission is to earn the trust of the community, staff and students as she continues to be an advocate on their behalf,\u201d the district website said. \u201cNoyes is looking forward to working to resolve unfinished promises, promote transparency, and be proactive in the challenges that lie ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
