Oct. 18: M-CHS 28, Alamosa 21<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the driving rain at Panther Stadium, Montezuma-Cortez High School (6-1, 3-0 IML) came through with another gritty performance in their battle for the top spot in the IML against the Mean Moose. Senior quarterback Colby McMillian ran for four touchdowns, including the go-ahead score late in the third quarter after Alamosa (4-3, 2-1 IML) had taken a 21-20 advantage.<\/p>\n

The victory, paired a number of a couple of other results in a wild IML weekend, sets the Panthers up with an opportunity to win the IML with a victory in either of their final two regular season games. Their next challenge will be a trip to Pagosa Springs (4-3, 1-2 IML) for a Friday night bout on Oct. 25 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Oct. 18: Mancos 34, Sanford 20<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Jays jumped to 6-1 and 3-0 in league play with their back-and-forth win in the San Luis Valley, setting up Mancos with an opportunity to sew up at least a share of the Mountain League title when they host Norwood next Friday night at 7 p.m. Their battle against the Mavericks can be heard on local radio station KRTZ 98.7 FM and krtzradio.com.<\/p>\n

Oct. 19: Mancos 3, Sargent 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

After dropping a tough five-setter against their 2A regional rivals Sanford, Mancos bounced back with a fantastic victory over previously unbeaten Sargent the following day. The Jays have sewn up their third straight season with a winning record, and with three matches remaining, they look to improve the regional seeding with a road trip to Telluride on Oct. 22 before their home finale against Ridgway on Oct. 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
