(Jim Mimiaga\/The Journal)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Cortez residents in Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1\u2019s Precinct D will receive new election ballots in the mail, due to a \u201cballot layout error.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ballots did not include the Montezuma-Cortez School District RE-1 Ballot Issue 4-B, according to a news release from the Montezuma County Clerk\u2019s Office and the school district on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Replacement ballots will be mailed out and will include the omitted measure, and \u201cthe other races and measures on which RE-1 school district Precinct D voters are eligible to vote,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>The corrected ballot can be marked and returned in the return envelope enclosed with the ballot. If the incorrect ballot has already been filled out and signed, the corrected ballot can still be filled out and returned. Those who have not returned their original ballot are asked to rip it up and throw it away.<\/p>\n<p>If two ballots are received, only the corrected one will be counted if received by 7 p.m. Nov. 5.<\/p>\n<p>Only one ballot will be counted and processed per voter.<\/p>\n<p>Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder Kim Percell told <em id=\"emphasis-d2b759611a465c0aee97c3d9668fe742\">The Journal<\/em> that only Precinct D ballots need to be replaced. All other ballots are correct, but the Montezuma County Clerk and Recorder\u2019s Office can look at ballots anyone has a question about.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf a voter thinks the question should be on their ballot and it is not we would be more than happy to look it up and verify,\u201d Percell said.<\/p>\n<p>Those with questions and concerns can email <a href=\"mailto:election@co.montezuma.co.us\">election@co.montezuma.co.us<\/a>, call 970-565-3728 (select option No. 4) or stop by the county clerk\u2019s office, 140 W.
