(Courtesy Carla Lydic)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">The Pi\u00f1on Project Pumpkin Fest<\/div>\n<p>A few days before Halloween day, on Oct. 26, the Pi\u00f1on Project is putting on a Pumpkin Fest.<\/p>\n<p>The fun starts at 9 a.m. with a zombie run, which coincides with a cake walk. The run ends at 10 a.m. and the cake walk finishes at 11 a.m., so those wanting to do both, can.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to register in the costume contest between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., as winners will be announced by 11:45 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Trick-or-treating at participating Main Street businesses goes from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Pumpkin Fest carnival itself starts at 12:30 p.m. and will finish at 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Trunk or Treat<\/div>\n<p>From 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 26, trunk or treat at the Church of the Nazarene at 514 N. Chestnut St. The event is free!<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Cortez Ghost Tours<\/div>\n<p>At 6 p.m. on Oct. 26, brave a spooky ghost tour. It starts at Merriweather Home &amp; Market, 25 S. Elm St., and ends at the Loungin\u2019 Lizard, 2 W. Main St.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds benefit Good Sam\u2019s Food Pantry.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">More candy?<\/div>\n<p>That\u2019s right! More candy. The Cortez Elks will be hosting a community, family-friendly Halloween party from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.<\/p>\n<p>Head to 2100 N. Dolores Road for candy, prizes and fun games for all ages!<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">The last weekend to visit Jones Farm Pumpkin Fest<\/div>\n<p>Round up the kids \u2013 or your partner, or yourself \u2013 and head to 25450 Road M just one mile outside of Cortez. It\u2019s the last weekend of the season to visit Jones\u2019 Farm in all its fall glory!<\/p>\n<p>It has a corn maze, hay maze, games, concessions and \u201cdecorations everywhere,\u201d which makes for great fall photo ops, said Bobbe Jones, who owns the farm.<\/p>\n<p>If you haven\u2019t got your pumpkin yet, they\u2019ve got those, too.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Watch \u2018The Shining\u2019 live<\/div>\n<p>The Cortez Public Library is screening the classic film on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 5:15 p.m.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">The \u2018spooktacular\u2019 Trick-or-Treat at Vista Grande<\/div>\n<p>The Vista Grande Rehabilitation &amp; Healthcare Center announced its annual, free \u2018Trick-or-Treat\u2019 party, which will be at its facility on Oct. 31 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>It \u201ccombines Halloween fun and community spirit which makes it a real treat for everyone,\u201d said Carla Lydic, a Vista Grande administrator, in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>People are encouraged to wear costumes and to bring some sort of receptacle \u2013 whether it be a pillow case or a kitschy pumpkin basket \u2013 to collect candy and other goodies in.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a fun and safe environment for children to enjoy Halloween festivities in one location,\u201d Lydic said.<\/p>\n<p>The Vista Grande staff will be sporting their favorite costumes, kicking off \u201cthe Autumn season right,\u201d Lydic said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">A spooky food drive in Mancos<\/div>\n<p>From 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 31, there will be a Halloween Carnival in Mancos at 270 Montezuma Ave. in Mancos, which is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a family event, free of charge.
