(City of Cortez)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The city of Cortez has announced that it is applying for a $500,000 EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant for 2025 to remove contamination found at the Cortez Municipal Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The city shared that during an environmental assessment at the airport last year, \u201csome levels of contamination\u201d were found at airport buildings on Road F and Road G.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNone of the found contaminants are life-threatening nor causing harm to individuals using the airport or the terminal,\u201d the city said. \u201cThrough these environmental assessments, contamination was identified at the Cortez Municipal Airport, and cleanup activities for two buildings (the former Hertz Rental Car building and the maintenance hangar building) and soil around these buildings has been recommended (for cleanup).\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-pdf-embed\"><iframe class=\"article-pdf\" src=\"https:\/\/dur-prod-public-pdfs.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/ucL7H8DQeg_25-O_j8i4vI54G0U.pdf\" style=\"width:100%;height:500px;border:1px solid #ddd\" loading=\"lazy\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dur-prod-public-pdfs.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/ucL7H8DQeg_25-O_j8i4vI54G0U.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Analysis of cleanup.pdf (Download PDF)<\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/iframe>\n<p class=\"naviga-pdf-link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dur-prod-public-pdfs.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com\/ucL7H8DQeg_25-O_j8i4vI54G0U.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Analysis of cleanup.pdf<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>All the cleanup activities are voluntary, and the grant, if acquired, would help remove the contamination.
