There will be a stuff the bus event in the Safeway parking lot in Cortez on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cFood is one thing we ALL have in common,\u201d Sorrell Redford, the education director at the Montezuma School to Farm Project, wrote in an email.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Good Sam\u2019s Food Pantry in Cortez distributes food all year, rain or shine,\u201d said Redford. \u201cSaturday is their big food drive this season, so please help make it a success.\u201d<\/p>\n

Redford said they feed about 2,000 people a month, triple than what they saw at the height of the pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe really need Thanksgiving items, cooking oil, healthy snacks, canned fruit and cereal,\u201d Redford said.<\/p>\n

The Good Samaritan Food Pantry is a nonprofit on Beech Street, and this event will help it \u201cstock up for the winter,\u201d an advertisement said.<\/p>\n

They do a \u201cStuff the Bus\u201d event every year, but didn\u2019t have much time to promote it this year because they found out about it only a few weeks ago, Redford said.<\/p>\n

The pantry operates like a grocery store, and welcomes everyone to come and shop bi-weekly.<\/p>\n

Community members are often lined up outside the pantry on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays to get food for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n

Good Sam\u2019s <\/a>is looking for volunteers and donations, and can accept most things so long as they\u2019re fresh, unopened and haven\u2019t been frozen for more than a year.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s located at 30-C N. Beech St. and accepts donations between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday to Friday.<\/p>\n
