(Cortez Police Department)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Cortez Police Department seek to arrest a man who allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase before crashing his car and fleeing the scene on foot.<\/p>\n<p>An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/crimewatch.net\/us\/co\/montezuma\/cortez-pd\/178700\/warrants\/growler-desmond-active-warrant-111324\" id=\"link-8cac8ae09ef5cf4874a6dd2b6760b211\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">man<\/a>, Desmond Growler, is described as Native American, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 194 pounds. He is 39 years old and has black hair and brown eyes.<\/p>\n<p>People with information about Growler are encouraged to call dispatch at (970) 565-8441 or submit a nonemergency tip through the Crimewatch app or <a href=\"Www.cortezpd.org\" id=\"link-ef8fd48d985f5b2e37c841393c511135\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>, www.cortezpd.org.<\/p>\n<p>Officer Tyler Smith was patrolling the 500 block of East Main Street on Nov. 7 about 11:30 p.m. when a silver Dodge Charger pulled out of the Super 8 parking lot \u201cat a high rate of speed,\u201d driving right on Smith\u2019s bumper.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=24129c3b-0905-590c-b5e1-3fd2543e349e&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"256\" height=\"256\" alt=\"Cortez police officers say Desmond Growler was allegedly driving over 100 mph on snowy, wet roads before he crashed.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Cortez police officers say Desmond Growler was allegedly driving over 100 mph on snowy, wet roads before he crashed.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>After Smith pulled to the side and turned on his emergency lights, he followed the Charger at 80 mph, but was left farther behind on the wet roadway during a snowstorm.<\/p>\n<p>Smith radioed Sgt. Brent Jarmon to let him know the Charger was heading his way. Jarmon was conducting a traffic stop near 1100 S. Broadway when he got Smith\u2019s message.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle passed Jarmon at an estimated 100 mph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the vehicle passed me, I could feel my patrol vehicle sway from the wind,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Jarmon briefly pursued the Charger, but ended the chase because of the speed and road conditions. He found the crashed Charger on the east side of U.S. Highway 491, south of Road G near the Habitat for Humanity building.<\/p>\n<p>The car was empty.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was apparent the sedan had traveled over the median separating the north and south lanes, flattened the tires on the passenger side and came to the final resting place as previously described. There was also damage to the front end, fenders and bumper,\u201d Jarmon said.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"naviga-map\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=37.309169902507%2C-108.61133870133&amp;z=15&amp;output=embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Map\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n<p>Officers from the Cortez Police Department,  Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Colorado State Patrol were unable to locate him.<\/p>\n<p>In the glove box of the car, Jarmon found a job application bearing Growler\u2019s name, and on the floor, he an empty can of Corona beer.
