(Courtesy photo)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>After 35 years at Southwest Health Systems, pharmacist Marc Meyer is retiring.<\/p>\n<p>The hospital will celebrate him and his achievements Thursday, Nov. 21 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a party in the atrium at Southwest Memorial Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The public is welcome \u2013 and encouraged \u2013 to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Meyer got his start in the field at the University of Kansas, where he studied prepharmacy studies. He graduated with a pharmacy degree from the University of Wyoming in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>Before Southwest Health Systems, he bounced around a bit.<\/p>\n<p>He got his start in Laramie, Wyoming, at Brothers\u2019 Pharmacy. From there, he went to Phoenix and Roundup, Montana, before landing in Cortez.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarc has been a cornerstone of SHS,\u201d a news release said.<\/p>\n<p>At Southwest Health System, Meyer was an infection preventionist and the director of infection control. In 2018, he was named director of pharmacy services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMarc\u2019s contributions to the field are extensive,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019 has coauthored 15 papers and guidelines, and his work has been recognized nationally. He\u2019s been invited \u201cto speak at conferences and webinars\u201d put on by the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to name a few.<\/p>\n<p>During the pandemic, Meyer \u201cled SHS\u2019 response efforts, including mass vaccine clinics that administered over 45,000 doses,\u201d the release said.
