The caller told Smith that she had seen Sanchez “hit and put his hands” around a woman’s neck behind the thrift shop.

The woman has a protection order from Sanchez, which states they could only have “non-harassing contact” and that he was “restrained from assaulting” her.

When Smith found the woman near Ocean Pearl, he reported that she had a “bloody, swollen nose” as well as having blood on her hands. She told Smith that “nothing” had happened, according to Smith’s report. At this point, Sanchez was not with her, and she declined when asked if Sanchez had caused her injuries.

Back at the thrift shop, the employee told Smith she had heard yelling and saw on the shop’s cameras that Sanchez slapped the woman Smith said he found blood that seemed to be fresh on the concrete near where Sanchez and the woman were reported to have their altercation.

Since the alleged assault, Sanchez was again charged with obstruction of justice.

He will appear in Montezuma County Court in front of Judge Ian MacLaren on Wednesday at 9 a.m.

[21,168,28,60,29,51

post-24756","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-cortez","tag-crime","tag-headlines","tag-montezuma-county","tag-newsletter","tag-police
["GET
