Mancos looks to get their first win of the season after a 74-16 loss to Cedaredge in the first round of the Grand Mesa Classic last Friday and a 49-25 defeat to Sargent on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The 0-6 Bluejays will compete at the Rye Invitational on Friday.<\/p>\n

Dolores and Dove Creek, along with their girls teams, competed in the Western Slope Winter Classic in Rangely over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Dolores (2-5) lost to De Beque, 64-46, in the first round and came up short against North Park, 44-42, but earned their second win of the season with a 53-40 victory over West Grand.<\/p>\n

Dove Creek (4-2) had a strong performance, winning their first two games in the Western Slope Classic \u2013 41-27 over North Park and 66-61 over De Beque \u2013 before falling to Ouray 42-36 in the championship game.<\/p>\n

Dolores will jump back into action in the new year when they travel to face Monticello on Jan. 7 and the Dove Creek boys and girls teams will host the Bulldog Classic starting Friday.<\/p>\n

Girls basketball teams fall short<\/div>\n

Mancos (0-4) seeks for their first win after losing to Cedaredge at the Grand Mesa Classic and lost, 59-10<\/p>\n

The Bluejays will travel down to the Rye tournament on Friday.<\/p>\n

Dolores (2-5) lost to De Beque 46-25 in the first round of the Western Slope Classic, then fell to West Grand 49-22. They won by forfeit against Ouray in their final game.<\/p>\n

Dolores will travel to Bayfield on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Dove Creek (3-3) won their first two games of the tournament, defeating Hayden 42-34 in the first round and North Park 49-36. They lost to Rangely 69-41 in the championship game.<\/p>\n

Wrestling tournaments get underway<\/div>\n

Dove Creek, Mancos, and Montezuma-Cortez wrestling teams traveled down to the Western Slope Showdown in Montrose last weekend.<\/p>\n

Dove Creek\u2019s Frankey Montoya finished sixth in the 215-pound weight division.<\/p>\n

For Mancos, Jacob Martin (190) claimed first place, while Brandon Vannest (165) took fourth.<\/p>\n

The Montezuma-Cortez girls team placed sixth in the Western Slope Invitational.<\/p>\n

Freshman CeJae Snyder earned third in the 115-pound division, and senior Aubrey Rutherford (155) took fourth.<\/p>\n

Paislee Maestas (120) placed fifth, while Baylee Molzahn (100), Sophie Wright (105), and Ava Hawkins (110) each finished sixth.<\/p>\n

Dove Creek and Mancos will compete at the Walsenberg tournament on Friday, while Montezuma-Cortez heads to the Warrior Classic.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dolores placed ninth at the Dave Smith Memorial Duals in Price, delivering strong individual performances against tough competition.<\/p>\n

Nathan Hill and River Wickstrom each earned multiple falls.<\/p>\n

Hill\u2019s wins included a 28-second fall over Gabriel Vargas of Monticello and a 55-second fall against Ty Edvalson of Maple Mountain.<\/p>\n

Wickstrom posted dominant victories, including a 23-14 major decision over Logan Keith of San Juan.<\/p>\n
