Another gust of winter weather was expected to arrive late Monday and early Tuesday, bringing 3 to 6 inches of snow in the San Juan Mountains.<\/p>\n

Colder weather is expected to follow later in the week, according to the National Weather Service. <\/a><\/p>\n

The second system is dropping down from the Northern Rockies, said NWS meteorologist Matthew Aleksa.<\/p>\n

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center forecast<\/a> predicts storm totals of 4 to 6 inches, and said the La Plata Mountains north of Hesperus could see even more.<\/p>\n

Aleksa predicted up to 10 inches in the La Platas and said southern valleys along U.S. Highway 160 may pick up a couple inches.<\/p>\n

Most of the SNOTEL sites<\/a> in Southwest Colorado are sitting near or at average snowpack levels based on a 30-year average.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though it may not be significant in terms of accumulations, the roads still could be snow-packed spots, especially as you get higher up,\u201d Aleksa warned. \u201cAnd so if you\u2019re traveling, just take it easy and check the latest forecast for any changes, as those do occur with these kind of systems sometimes.\u201d<\/p>\n
