She was released from custody the next day.<\/p>\n<p>Her former brother-in-law, Matthew Sandoval, 40, was arrested March 28 for reportedly planning and carrying out the shooting of Madrid on Feb. 26, only 8 days after her initial arrest.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=23f83dba-7353-531b-a9f4-e14a365b9fe3&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"440\" height=\"400\" alt=\"Jammy Jackson, 59, and Patricia Madrid, 36, both of Farmington, face 14 felony counts of child abuse after reportedly locking his daughter in a chicken coop.\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Jammy Jackson, 59, and Patricia Madrid, 36, both of Farmington, face 14 felony counts of child abuse after reportedly locking his daughter in a chicken coop.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>Farmington Police were called at 7:58 a.m. Feb. 26, to the home in the 1100 block of North Auburn Avenue in response to a shooting.<\/p>\n<p>They found Madrid inside of her black Ford Explorer with approximately six gunshot wounds to the backside of her body, according to the affidavit for arrest warrant.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle\u2019s back window was busted out from alleged gunfire and six shell casings and one \u201cpossible live round\u201d were located at the scene, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid\u2019s daughter reported the shooting and told police the family had been \u201creceiving threats online,\u201d and her mother had been \u201cattacked\u201d by a male at the family home, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>The girl identified her biological father, Mark Sandoval, as a possible suspect, stating that he had been \u201cthreatening\u201d Madrid regarding the child abuse allegations, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid and her boyfriend, Jammy Jackson, 59, of Farmington, were accused of keeping Jackson\u2019s 15-year-old daughter in a chicken coop, where she was \u201crequired to wear earmuffs and a blindfold.\u201d She also was \u201crequired to stand\u201d from about 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day, an arrest warrant states.<\/p>\n<p>The teenage girl was allegedly abused from November 2023 to Sept. 15, 2024, with the abuse ending after the girl, who reportedly has autism, ADHD and fetal alcohol syndrome, told her maternal grandmother that she was being abused at the family home.<\/p>\n<p>Police obtained a search warrant for a number of text messages between Madrid and Jackson, which reportedly detailed the alleged abuse that occurred during the summer and winter, at times during extreme heat or extreme cold and without protection from the weather.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid, who accused the girl of \u201cstealing water,\u201d put her on a bathroom schedule of \u201conce in the morning and once in the evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Text messages between the couple also showed they were withholding food and water from the girl to limit her use of the toilet, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>In another text message, Madrid reportedly wished the teen dead, writing to Jackson, \u201cI wish that b***ch was dead with her mom. She is a horrible human,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Madrid reportedly started dating Jackson shortly after the girl\u2019s mother died.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police began the investigation into Madrid\u2019s killing by looking at video from the area and they found a male suspect, who had allegedly ridden a bicycle away from the home to a white Chevrolet pickup parked near the water treatment plant in the area of North Orchard Avenue, according to the nine-page affidavit for arrest warrant for Sandoval.<\/p>\n<p>The truck reportedly was found at Sandoval\u2019s home the following day, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>Video evidence and witness statements provided police with the man\u2019s built and clothing, which reportedly were found along with an abandoned bicycle in an area off Highway 371. Police also used the Real-Time Crime Center to track the truck to that location, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police reportedly located a Carl Walther CCP M2 .380 firearm and a \u201cspilled box of .380 ammunition\u201d at the Highway 371 location, and the .380 ammunition \u201cwas the same make and model found on scene of the homicide,\u201d the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged in the affidavit that the gun belonged to Joshua Sandoval, who is Matthew Sandoval\u2019s brother.<\/p>\n<p>Other evidence includes DNA swabs collected from the bicycle and clothing, which reportedly matched Matthew Sandoval, but excluded Mark Sandoval as a suspect, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington Police state in the affidavit that \u201cit is believed Matthew Sandoval had the intentions of murdering\u201d Madrid, because he also purchased a gas can and used it to \u201cdouse the clothing\u201d and his shoes with gasoline to either set it on fire or \u201cdestroy any DNA evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sandoval was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service at a home in the 400 block of West Animas Street.
