The event promises “fantastic performances of singing, acrobatics, instrumental performance, magic and more.”

“I’ve done several talent shows in the district over the years, but it has been a while since the last one, so I was ready to bring it back,” organizer Andrew Saletta told The Journal. “We have participants in elementary, middle, and high school. Singing, playing instruments, magic, gymnastics and more.”

Saletta’s after-school rock band club, The Space Vikings, will help run the show, lending a hand as the tech crew and emcees, and managing lights, sound and stage changes.

They will also have their chance in the spotlight. “The rock band will open the show with a song, and will also play a song while the judges have a minute to make their decisions,” Saletta said.

Students and staff in the district are invited to participate. This year, there are 16 entries, including The Space Vikings; in past years, the number of entries has been around 20 by the night of the talent show. The public is invited. “We would love to have the community come and support our performers,” Saletta said.

In the past, the talent show brought positivity and fun during difficult times.

“During the beginning of the pandemic, I put on a virtual talent show and students submitted videos of their talent and we put it together in a long video,” Saletta said. “That was a lot of fun and something fresh for the kids to do to stay connected to their school during the bizarre circumstances we were going through. We received a lot of really neat submissions – some stop motion animation, videos of bike stunts, acrobatics and singing and instrument playing.”

The show can be a growth experience for students.

“I hope students feel a sense of pride in their individual skills, gain some confidence with performing and help build their character through working hard toward something and having a successful performance even if they don’t win,” Saletta said.

Tickets are $5 at the door, and a raffle entry is included. Three tickets are $12, and students can enter for free.
