(Jerry McBride\/Durango Herald)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Farmers and ranchers with operations of any size are invited to join a conversation with peers that\u2019s centered on farming in Montezuma County.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a space for producers to convene and dream up their ideal vision for farming locally and to address problems with an intention of solving them.<\/p>\n<p>Farmers and ranchers are most qualified to identify gaps or needs within their operations, said Mary Jo Standard, community involvement coordinator at the Montezuma Leadership Network.<\/p>\n<p>Once needs are identified, they can identify actions to address gaps and find resources to support their actions, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany times, when a community has identified needs or gaps, the best ones to identify a solution and implement action are the community members themselves, rather than nonprofit or government entities,\u201d Standard said.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the second time local producers will connect in Cortez\u2019s Chamber of Commerce building and delve into that conversation. The upcoming gathering will be Thursday, April 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch is provided \u2013 Standard asks that people <a href=\"https:\/\/montezumaleadershipnetwork.org\/event\/farming-forward-ag-concerns-solutions-2\/\" id=\"link-65c222c78ff9af3bce52ad0a45b47c99\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RSVP<\/a>, though it\u2019s not required \u2013 and that they bring a friend.
