(Screen capture via NBC Motorsports on YouTube)

Chase Sexton delivered a commanding performance at Supercross Round 14 on Saturday, securing back-to-back main event victories. At one point in the main event, Sexton was leading by nearly 20 seconds, solidifying his contention for the championship title.

In the main event, Sexton claimed the hole shot and quickly established a dominating lead, setting a quick pace despite dry track conditions that made jumps and rhythm sections challenging. Cooper Webb moved into second after overtaking Shane McElrath, but never caught Sexton, as Sexton was able to capitalize on the difficult areas of the track and use them to his advantage.

Justin Barcia and Aaron Plessinger battled behind McElrath in fourth and fifth. Soon, Barcia moved into the third place position.

Webb placed second overall, narrowing his overall points lead from 12 to nine points with only three races left in the 2025 season. Plessinger placed third, holding off Justin Cooper and Dylan Ferrandis, who placed just off the podium. Though Barcia raced in the top three for a large portion of the race, a crash caused him to place 18th.

At the end of the race, Sexton had lapped all but the top seven riders. Webb finished 14 seconds behind Sexton.

In Heat 1, Sexton got the hole shot, getting out in front for an early lead that he held for the remainder of the race. As in the main event, Sexton was praised for his skill navigating the dry and difficult whoops section, which gave a notable advantage over his competitors.

Throughout the course of the race, Sexton’s speed was unaffected by the difficult track conditions. Ken Roczen placed second and Barcia third.

In the second heat, Webb placed first, followed by Justin Cooper in second and Plessinger in third.

Now, only three races in the 2025 season remain. Though Webb still leads in overall points, Sexton’s recent race wins have narrowed the gap. The next race will take place on Saturday, April 26 in Pittsburgh. The remaining races after Pittsburgh will take place in Denver and Salt Lake City.

2025 450 Supercross Standings1. Cooper WebbYamaha3002.
