Cooper Webb secured<\/a> \u201cone of the most important victories\u201d of the 2025 Supercross season at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday. At this Round 15 race, he extended his lead to 12 points and put an end to a recent winning streak from his competitor, Chase Sexton.<\/p>\n

Now, with his 12-point overall points lead, it would be difficult for Sexton to claim the championship title, even if he wins in both Denver and Salt Lake City, at least, not \u201cwithout help.\u201d If Webb is crowned victorious in Salt Lake City, this will be his third Supercross championship title.<\/p>\n

The \u201cepic\u201d showdown between Webb and Sexton took place in Pittsburgh, the first time that a Supercross race has been held in the city in 42 years. The last time a Supercross race was held in Pittsburgh was in 1983.<\/p>\n

In the main event, Webb took the hole shot as he \u201cattacked\u201d the first turn with Sexton \u201cright there on him.\u201d Despite the constant pressure from Sexton, Webb stayed steady and didn\u2019t make any mistakes that would have allowed Sexton to take over the lead.<\/p>\n

\u201c(Webb) led wire to wire with a ton of pressure,\u201d commentators said.<\/p>\n

At one point, Sexton ran off the track in the whoops section. Though he lost a lot of energy by \u201cblitzing\u201d the whoop section, he was able to make up some ground, though it wasn\u2019t enough.<\/p>\n

Webb won the \u201creally hard fought\u201d race by 1.5 seconds ahead of Sexton. Justin Cooper placed third.<\/p>\n

This win by Webb tied him and Sexton for total race wins this season, with five wins for both riders.<\/p>\n

In the first heat, Cooper won after passing Aaron Plessinger, who placed second, and Sexton, who placed third. Despite racing on an injured ankle, Ken Roczen won the second heat, followed by Webb in second and Dylan Ferrandis in third.<\/p>\n

The next race will take place in Denver at Empower Field at Mile High on Saturday, May 4. The final race in Salt Lake City will be held on Saturday, May 11.<\/p>\n

Though Cortez\u2019s Eli Tomac expressed his desire, through an Instagram on April 5, to race at least once more before the end of the Supercross season and ahead of the 2025 Motocross season, it still has not been confirmed if Tomac will be racing in Denver or Salt Lake City.<\/p>\n
