As the 2025 Supercross season nears its end, the battle for the championship title is decisively between Cooper Webb and Chase Sexton. In a commanding victory, Sexton secured the win at the Mile High Stadium in Denver, nearly 10 seconds ahead of second-place finisher and overall points leader Webb.<\/p>\n

Sexton\u2019s win put him within nine points of Webb\u2019s overall lead, three points closer than after Webb\u2019s victory in last week\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

In the main event, Malcolm Stewart claimed the hole shot to the loud and excited cheering of the crowd. In the first rhythm section, Webb and Sexton nearly had a collision while fighting for position, allowing Webb to get ahead of Sexton as he chased down Stewart.<\/p>\n

Webb soon passed Stewart, and Sexton passed not long after. As Sexton passed Stewart, he set his sights on Webb.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I was a little fired up,\u201d Sexton said<\/a> after the race. \u201c(Cooper Webb) crossed on me pretty hard on the start (first rhythm section), almost took me out. I was kinda seeing red after that.\u201d<\/p>\n

As the two came around a corner, Sexton edged past Webb, moving into the lead. By the time he crossed the finish line, Sexton was 10 seconds ahead of Webb, clinching his sixth win of the season.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe championship is still alive,\u201d commentators said.<\/p>\n

Justin Cooper placed third.<\/p>\n

Now, Webb and Sexton will be battling for the championship title in Salt Lake City on Saturday, May 10. Third place could also be up for grabs, as the current third-place racer, Ken Roczen, did not race this weekend because of injury.<\/p>\n

With Roczen\u2019s injury, both Cooper and Stewart have a shot at third place.<\/p>\n

In Heat 1, Stewart placed first, followed by Aaron Plessinger and Mitchell Oldenburg. Heat 2 was a mirror image of the later main event race results, with Sexton placing first, Webb second and Cooper third.<\/p>\n

Though Cortez\u2019s Eli Tomac had shared on Instagram recently that he hoped to race at the final race in Salt Lake City, Joe Weber of Feld Entertainment told The<\/em> Journal<\/em> on behalf of Tomac that he will not begin racing until the start of the Motocross season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you know, Eli did not appear this past weekend in Denver and we do not expect him to race in Salt Lake City for the Supercross finale either,\u201d Weber said. \u201cHis next race will be the Pro Motocross championship opener on May 24.\u201d<\/p>\n
