\u201cFour Corners Voices,\u201d an anthology featuring stories, essays and poetry from more than 40 writers in the Four Corners region, has been named a finalist by Colorado Humanities and the Colorado Center for the Book for the 2025 Colorado Book Award in the Best Anthology category.<\/p>\n

The collection was published in December 2024 by the Four Corners Writers, a Cortez nonprofit that works to \u201cidentify, develop and promote literary voices in the American Southwest,\u201d and collection has been recognized for its portrayal of the Four Corners area.<\/p>\n

The anthology was edited by local authors Chuck Greaves (fiction), Lisa C. Taylor (poetry) and Mark Stevens (nonfiction). The pieces included in the anthology were selected by these authors, and showcases the talents of writers local to this area.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to have the hard work that went into confecting this anthology recognized by Colorado Humanities,\u201d Greaves told The<\/em> Journal<\/em>. \u201cFor many of the forty-plus writers whose work appears in \u2018Four Corners Voices,\u2019 this was their first taste of publication, and I suspect it won\u2019t be their last, which really was the whole point of the project.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 34th Colorado Book Awards will honor finalists and announce winners at a ceremony at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House Studio Loft in Denver on Saturday, July 26.<\/p>\n

Valerie Eddy, programs coordinator for the Colorado Center for the Book, also praised the anthology.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur selectors felt that (the anthology) was beautifully crafted, and it transports you to the Four Corners region with a combination of story, poetry and essay,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Four Corners Writers was founded to promote the writing talents of established and undiscovered authors in the Four Corners and \u201cdesert Southwest.\u201d The nonprofit has discovered a plethora of talent, from award-winning authors to writers who are just embarking on their writing journey.<\/p>\n

Four Corners Writers is preparing for its next anthology. Submissions are open to area writers through July 1, and guidelines available at www.fourcornerswriters.com. The upcoming anthology is supported by grants from the Ballantine Family Fund, the LOR Foundation and Hutton Broadcasting, ensuring continued opportunities for area writers to see their work published.<\/p>\n
