College Drive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TICKETS: <\/strong>$25 presale, $30 day of show; $60 VIP Crows Nest Balcony (limited availability).<\/p>\n<p><strong>MORE INFORMATION: <\/strong>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/animascitytheatre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">animascitytheatre.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Durango-based Secret Circus Society will perform a summer series made up of three separate themes: \u201cSweet Treats\u201d (July 22 and 23), \u201cWhirlwind Western\u201d (Aug. 12 and 13) and \u201cUnleashed: A Celebration of Art\u201d (Sept. 23 and 24). Each month has two dates because one is a family-friendly, all-ages show and the other is something a little \u2026 spicier \u2013 for adults 21 and older.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t a circus of days of old, said RubiStarr Bornheim, one of the circus\u2019 ringleaders along with Ben Dukeminier. She\u2019s also a Secret Circus Society founding member.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=f822cb50-4203-5b2c-a309-c56c80b4b915&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1440\" height=\"2161\" alt=\"The Secret Circus Society is performing a summer series at Animas City Theatre. (Courtesy)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cI would say we\u2019re more of a modern circus,\u201d she said. \u201cThink Cirque du Soleil style: Acrobatics, stilt walking, juggling, aerial, stuff like that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Secret Circus Society is a performing arts collective that uses circus arts to inspire, connect and build community, according to a news release. \u201cThrough immersive stage shows and vibrant theatrics, SCS supports local artists, promotes inclusion and creates magical, accessible spaces for people of all ages to experience the joy of live performance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first show in the series, \u201cSweet Treats,\u201d features \u201ccandy-colored costumes, enchanted bakeries, cupcake queens and cotton candy fairies,\u201d the release says. The circus invites audience members to dress up and get silly. \u201cYou may even float through a dream with the Cotton Candy Fairy herself!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August, it\u2019s time to join the circus in the wild West with \u201cWestern Whirlwind,\u201d which will feature a \u201cwild tale of cowgirls, campfire legends and desert dreams,\u201d according to the news release. Audience members can expect to see lasso-spinning stilt walkers, saloon-style aerialists showdowns and fiery frontier magic.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=6204b8c7-ccfc-5370-8c00-0d639c9083ba&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1440\" height=\"2064\" alt=\"The Secret Circus Society is performing a summer series at Animas City Theatre. (Courtesy)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>To top off the series, Sept. 23 and 24 brings \u201cUnleashed: A Celebration of Art\u201d to the ACT stage. A full-blown art explosion, the show is a tribute to September Art Month. Expect artistic representations of all mediums: dancers painting with light, acrobats embodying sculpture and characters leaping from canvases, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Bornheim said the cast for the shows are made up of about 20 performers, and can feature as many as 40 to 60 for the circus\u2019 bigger productions.
