(Journal file photo)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>The eighth annual community celebration that is the <a href=\"https:\/\/mancosbrewingcompany.com\/event\/mancos-valley-summer-brewfest\/\" id=\"link-1675a8785cd4e0faa270ea0794aff374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mancos Valley Summer Brewfest<\/a> is Saturday, with gates at the Mancos Brewing Co. opening at 1 p.m. and closing at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great day of music, dancing, fun and relaxation in beautiful Mancos,\u201d a news release said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-scoreboard\">\n<h4 class=\"scoreboard-title\">If you go <\/h4>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the gate. Tickets for students 13-18 are $5, and kids under age 12 are admitted for free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parking: <\/strong>Limited $5 parking is available at Mancos Brewing Co. Carpooling is encouraged.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drinks:<\/strong> Tokens are available to buy and exchange for beer and wine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pets:<\/strong> Please leave dogs at home.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Kathy Hands, co-owner of the Mancos Brewing Co., said the event was about \u201ccommunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two nonprofits split proceeds from ticket and token sales the festival. Last year, the event gave $14,400 to two nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>This year, it\u2019ll support <a href=\"https:\/\/mancosvalleyresources.com\/\" id=\"link-41aea81958d435788b673791be8ceba7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mancos Valley Resources<\/a> \u2013 which supports more than a dozen programs and groups in the area \u2013 and The Pay It Forward Fund, said Hands.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/mancosvalleyresources.com\/2018\/12\/the-pay-it-forward-fund\/\" id=\"link-40feb1a48856796e9ad7c613e7359097\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">its website<\/a>, The Pay It Forward Fund supports those in the Mancos Valley struggling financially in the wake of \u201cunexpected medical situations or personal hardships.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to supporting those nonprofits, Brewfest supports local breweries.<\/p>\n<p>The Mancos Brewing Co. and Durango\u2019s Carvers Brewery and Anarchy Brewery \u2013 plus Fenceline Cider \u2013 will be pouring drinks that those 21 and older can enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a children\u2019s activity area for the kiddos, courtesy of the Mancos Public Library.<\/p>\n<p>Local groups and nonprofits will have educational booths in the parking lot alongside vendors selling \u201cgoodies and gear,\u201d food and beer. Inside, attendees can bid on silent auction items \u2013 goods and services offered by businesses and individuals. Proceeds from those sales also go to the nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>Three bands will play throughout the day, beginning at 2 p.m. with Throwback Swing, a three-piece classic swing and Latin grooves band.
