(Via www.techstars.com)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.startupweekenddurango.com\/\" id=\"link-b30e9493de1b4f05b786941be4596fc4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Techstars Startup Weekend: AI Edition<\/a>, a two-day \u201cteam based\u201d event coming to Durango this month, promises to \u201cbring students and community members together to turn bold ideas into real-world solutions powered by artificial intelligence,\u201d according to a news release from Fort Lewis College.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place Oct. 9 and 10 at the Fort Lewis College Center for Innovation on the second floor of the Main Mall at 835 Main Ave., Suite 225, and is open to students, creatives, entrepreneurs and professionals of all backgrounds, the release said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techstars.com\/\" id=\"link-240e34b4cf25a89953ea384c1dbc3173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Techstars Startup Weekend<\/a> is a globally recognized program that started in 2007 and has been involved in presenting more than 10,000 events <a href=\"https:\/\/www.techstars.com\/events#search_events=Startup%20Weekend\" id=\"link-7a713de751c2fb3cae88aed028844412\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">around the world<\/a>, including at least a half dozen across the Western Slope, according to event organizers \u2013 but this is the event\u2019s first time coming to Durango.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend is being presented in partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/pitchbook.com\/profiles\/investor\/231688-18\" id=\"link-272fbf50e04f771890e02c5aa7b42d6d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Howdy Partners<\/a>, formerly known as the Greater Colorado Venture Fund, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/articles\/west-slope-startup-week-returning-to-durango-for-third-year\/\" id=\"link-ee5d4c472593821dc677a99abccc58aa\" target=\"_blank\">West Slope Startup Week<\/a>, which will be taking place Oct. 6 through 10 this year at a range of local downtown locations, including at the Fort Lewis College Center for Innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Event organizers for the Durango edition of Techstars include Tom Miaskiewicz, associate professor of marketing, AI strategist and director of the AI Institute at Fort Lewis College; Nicholas Goodman, a Durango resident with 25 years of tech and startup experience; and Marc Nager, who co-founded Startup Weekend globally and acts as a managing partner with Howdy Partners.<\/p>\n<p>AI Institute leadership at FLC said when Nager approached them about bringing the event to Durango, the collaboration felt like \u201ca natural fit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event directly supports our mission to advance AI innovation in rural communities, foster economic development, and promote cross-sector collaboration throughout the Four Corners region,\u201d Fort Lewis College AI Institute leadership said in a combined statement to <em id=\"emphasis-d136718b60b3ef0abe5f61c3c155a19e\">The Durango Herald. <\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-scoreboard\">\n<h4 class=\"scoreboard-title\">For more information<\/h4>\n<p>For ticket prices and scheduling details, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.startupweekenddurango.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.startupweekenddurango.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The rapidly evolving pace of AI can feel overwhelming, Miaskiewicz said.
