No. 28 Montezuma-Cortez (7-17) battled valiantly against regional host Wellington, but the Eagles pulled away in the middle innings to knock out the Panthers.

M-CHS struck first in the top of the first inning as junior Raegan Veach reached base and scored on classmate Jayden White’s extra-base hit. Wellington (20-4-1) answered with three runs in its first turn at the plate.

Four Panthers collected hits on the afternoon, led by White’s multi-hit performance. Veach, sophomore Paislee Mestas and junior AnnaLisa Abeyta also reached via base knocks. Abeyta went the distance in the circle, striking out three Eagles in the Panthers’ season finale.

M-CHS returns virtually its entire lineup for the 2026 fall season, setting the stage for exciting softball ahead.

Volleyball

Dolores 2, Caliche 0 (Saturday)

Dolores 2, Denver Waldorf 0

Dolores 2, Lone Star 1

The Bears improved to 17-1 after sweeping a late-season tournament hosted by Caliche.
