The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

The book, co-authored with Larisa Bowen, chronicles Redd’s life at the Dugout Ranch and her work with The Nature Conservancy to protect the ranch’s desert landscapes, mountains and cattle operations.

According to an article about Redd published by A Little Herstory (provided by the library), she is a fifth-generation cowgirl. She married into the Indian Creek Cattle Co. and Dugout Ranch, founded in 1889. After divorcing Robert Redd in 1994, she fought off subdivision threats before The Nature Conservancy acquired the land. Soon after, the Dugout Ranch launched the Canyonlands Research Center in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey, USDA Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, National Park Service, Utah State University and the Division of Wildlife Resources.

Redd retired from daily ranching in 2015, handing operations to her son Matt Redd and daughter-in-law Kristen. She remains the ranch’s ambassador and is a National Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee.

[639,28,83,60,29

post-15850","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-book","tag-headlines","tag-mancos","tag-montezuma-county","tag-newsletter
["GET
