The Four Corners AI Conference is touching down in Durango for its second year this December to explore the impact AI can have on rural communities.<\/p>\n

The free, one-day event will take place 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 16. at the Fort Lewis College Concert Hall, and promises to bring together community members, Fort Lewis College students, faculty and staff, along with regional business, education and civic leaders for a rousing day of AI education and discussion.<\/p>\n

The conference is sponsored by Fort Lewis College, the Economic Development Alliance and the Durango Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

Keynote speakers at the event include Angelo Baca, a Din\u00e9\/Hopi assistant professor at the Rhode Island School of Design, who recently presented a TED Talk addressing concerns of Indigenous intellectual property and Artificial Intelligence for Native American communities; and Luke Norris, co-founder of distributed AI orchestration platform Kamiwaza.ai<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additional general session speakers include Durango School District Superintendent Karen Cheser, city of Durango City Manager Jos\u00e9 Madrigal, Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and AI Institute Founder at Fort Lewis College Mario Martinez, and Associate Professor of Marketing at Fort Lewis College AI Institute Tom Miaskiewicz.<\/p>\n

Event programming will also include 40- and 90-minute breakout sessions, where attendees can explore topics in greater depth through \u201cguided, hands-on learning,\u201d according to the event\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether you are just curious about AI, use it in your workplace, or are developing advanced applications, you will find sessions designed for your level of experience,\u201d the site said. \u201cTogether, we are building an AI-ready future for the Four Corners.\u201d<\/p>\n
