(Debra Mayeux\/Tri-City Record)<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Debra Mayeux<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>The first snowfall of the season in San Juan County might be the last for a while, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n<p>The reprieve from dry conditions Wednesday brought low temperatures and up to 5 inches of snowfall in northeastern parts of the county, said Clay Anderson, a meteorologist in Albuquerque.<\/p>\n<p>Snow accumulations \u201cvaried significantly depending on location,\u201d Anderson said, adding that areas closer to the San Juan River saw the least snow.<\/p>\n<p>Most roads stayed wet, resulting in few weather-related crashes.<\/p>\n<p>The San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office responded to four crashes, according to spokeswoman Rebekah Click.<\/p>\n<p>The Farmington Police Department responded to one weather-related crash, according to spokeswoman Shanice Gonzales.<\/p>\n<p>The highest total was 5 inches, reported 5.2 miles east of Aztec, Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p>Three miles northeast of Aztec, 2.2 inches fell, and \u201cfurther out of town in the higher elevations\u201d near Cedar Hill, 4 inches was reported, Anderson said.<\/p>\n<p>These numbers are \u201cnot atypical\u201d for the region, according to Anderson, who said that while it might seem \u201cabnormal,\u201d it \u201cfits perfectly in the climatology of the area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Farmington has seen less snow in recent years, a trend expected to continue, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are anticipating all of the state to have near to below normal precipitation with the Four Corners area having less precipitation than normal,\u201d Anderson said, adding he has a \u201chigh degree of confidence\u201d there will be no precipitation for the next eight to 10 days.<\/p>\n<p>A storm system in the Pacific Northwest could bring snow around Dec. 16-18, Anderson said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reprieve won\u2019t last; dry conditions return<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":15409,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[],"tags":[28,29],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-15408","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","tag-headlines","tag-newsletter"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15408","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=15408"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15408\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":19642,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/15408\/revisions\/19642"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/15409"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=15408"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=15408"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=15408"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=15408"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
