Mancos\u2019 annual Olde Fashioned Christmas celebration will be Friday, Dec. 5, in downtown Mancos, with family-friendly events from 5 to 8 p.m., including the lighting of the community Christmas tree in Pioneer Plaza.<\/p>\n

The celebration begins at 5 p.m. with the 1K and 5K Rudolph Run, sponsored by Colorado Ranch and Home Realty and Carrie Summers. At 5:30 p.m., the Mancos Music Student Ensemble will perform holiday music at the community center.<\/p>\n

The Mancos Valley Chorus will start downtown events with Christmas carols at 6 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive by firetruck at 6:15 p.m., followed by the lighting of the community Christmas tree in Pioneer Plaza.<\/p>\n

At 6:30 p.m., children can join Santa for a light parade on Grand Avenue, then return to the community center to visit with Santa and enjoy refreshments. Also at 6:30 p.m., the chorus will visit downtown businesses with carols.<\/p>\n

The Mancos Opera House will host a Nativity scene display sponsored by local churches from 4 to 8 p.m. Downtown shops and galleries will stay open until 8 p.m. with in-store events and promotions for Olde Fashioned Christmas shoppers.<\/p>\n

Sponsors include the Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Ranch and Home Realty, Famburger, New Masters Village and Montezuma County VFW Auxiliary Post 5231.<\/p>\n

A separate Christmas Dinner for All will be Thursday, Dec. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the community center.<\/p>\n
