(Unsplash)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>Dolores Elementary School students will bring holiday cheer with their showcase, themed \u201cMagic in the Mountains.\u201d Students voted on the theme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents enthusiastically chose the theme and have been hard at work preparing for two joyful evenings of music and celebration,\u201d Dolores Elementary School Principal Amanda Hill told The Journal.<\/p>\n<p>Two performances are scheduled: kindergarten through second grade perform Monday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m., and third through fifth grades perform Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Each grade selected songs to perform. The performances feature student-led introductions, keyboard and xylophone parts, and soloists, duets, trios and quartets to highlight each piece, Hill said.<\/p>\n<p>On Dec. 16, fourth grade students perform an original mini play.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA creative fourth grader sparked the idea for an original mini play, and the entire fourth grade jumped in to help bring the story to life by adding their own parts,\u201d Hill said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo keep the magic alive during transitions,\u201d three student musicians from Dolores\u2019s secondary schools will perform, Hill said, calling it \u201canother wonderful example of the growing connection between our elementary and secondary students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several fourth- and fifth-grade students volunteered as technicians to manage sound, lights and props.<\/p>\n<p>Following each night of performances, families can visit a donation-based bake sale hosted by the Dolores PTA. Proceeds will fund a new water-bottle filling station.
