In addition, Black\u2019s domination of the second rank is ominous.<\/p>\n<p>White, however, drives a fork into Black\u2019s belly with a rook move to 5 (see next diagram).<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image naviga-align-left alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=8107319a-7bb1-506d-ad82-e838d48a6af5&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1271\" height=\"1275\" alt=\"\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>White\u2019s rook and queen threaten checkmate on g7, while the rook also attacks Black\u2019s queen. Black is forked no matter which road it takes.
