{"id":15139,"date":"2025-12-22T10:16:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T17:16:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/update-u-s-160-491-south-of-cortez-reopens-after-semitrailer-rollover\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T03:45:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T03:45:14","slug":"update-u-s-160-491-south-of-cortez-reopens-after-semitrailer-rollover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/update-u-s-160-491-south-of-cortez-reopens-after-semitrailer-rollover\/","title":{"rendered":"Update: U.S. 160\/491 south of Cortez reopens after semitrailer rollover"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=1cd7b5ca-aef8-541a-b8f3-9d563fbc0ccf&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"700\" height=\"522\" alt=\"\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>A semitrailer crash early Monday closed U.S Highway 160\/491 a few miles south of Cortez, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The crash occurred sometime after 6:30 a.m. when a tractor-trailer jackknifed and overturned, blocking both lanes of the highway near County Road D and County Road E, Sheriff Steve Nowlin said.<\/p>\n<p>Sheriff deputies diverted traffic at mile marker 33, routing drivers from U.S. 491 onto County Road C, then north on County Road 21 to County Road G before rejoining the highway, according to the sheriff, as well as drivers at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries have been reported. About 11:10 a.m., the highway was opened to traffic, with both lanes clear of debris.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=e3b9c5c9-a726-55ef-b666-175b3c48b2a2&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"1182\" height=\"690\" alt=\"(Facebook\/County Sheriff\u2019s Department)\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">(Facebook\/County Sheriff\u2019s Department)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>\u201cThere were two people involved from what I understand but no injuries,\u201d Nowlin said. \u201c(Colorado) State Patrol is handling the crash investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hazardous materials crews responded Monday morning as a precaution after diesel fuel leaked from the truck\u2019s saddle tanks.
