{"id":15130,"date":"2025-12-23T12:19:04","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T19:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/shiprock-man-arrested-in-assaults-at-animas-valley-mall\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T03:45:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T03:45:14","slug":"shiprock-man-arrested-in-assaults-at-animas-valley-mall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/shiprock-man-arrested-in-assaults-at-animas-valley-mall\/","title":{"rendered":"Shiprock man arrested in assaults at Animas Valley Mall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=aebd2bd0-0c49-5f61-a644-c841e9983cbc&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Daitheus Keeswood\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Daitheus Keeswood<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A Shiprock man faces two felony charges after allegedly threatening customers in the food court at the Animas Valley Mall.<\/p>\n<p>Daitheus Keeswood, 24, was charged with two fourth-degree felony counts of aggravated assault and one petty misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from two attempted robberies in which Keeswood allegedly brandished a weapon and demanded money, according to a statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington police Officer Mark Moore responded to the mall, where a Farmington woman and her daughter reported that Keeswood approached her and allegedly said, \u201cI\u2019m gonna rob you\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m gonna stab you,\u201d according to the statement of probable cause.<\/p>\n<p>The woman \u201casked for help while trying to back away,\u201d and another man intervened to stop Keeswood, the report states.<\/p>\n<p>Keeswood allegedly told the man, \u201cgive me all your money or I\u2019m gonna stab you,\u201d while brandishing the weapon, the report states.<\/p>\n<p>Upon Keeswood\u2019s arrest, police found a \u201cmetal object\u201d in his pocket that had been \u201cfiled\u201d to a sharp point, according to the probable cause statement.<\/p>\n<p>Moore also reported that Keeswood appeared intoxicated and \u201cwas too belligerent\u201d to communicate with police.<\/p>\n<p>Keeswood was arrested Dec. 20 and booked into the San Juan County Detention Center.
