On Saturday, Jan. 31, Lamp Post will host a 1940s-themed Winter Gala at 6:30 p.m. The gala benefits the nonprofit\u2019s capital campaign to purchase the former Rock Springs Church property, 32171 U.S. Highway 160, where Lamp Post is located.<\/p>\n

The gala will feature live \u201cbig band\u201d music, dancing and a silent auction. Attendees are encouraged to dress in 1940s formal attire. Those who wish to attend or contribute auction items can do so on Lamp Post\u2019s website. Details will be posted online.<\/p>\n

Lamp Post\u2019s upcoming musical, \u201cMatilda the Musical,\u201d will run for three weekends instead of two. The nine shows are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Friday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Feb. 28, at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

About 90 people make up the cast, crew and pit orchestra. Tickets go on sale in January.<\/p>\n

Lamp Post also hosts Young Adult Nights each month, each with a different theme. December\u2019s event included a gingerbread house-building competition. January\u2019s Young Adult Night and future events will be posted online.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit recently formed a new hand bell choir called the Lamp Post Luminaries. The group performed Dec. 13 and Dec. 17.<\/p>\n
