But piles of construction material are a somewhat promising sign at the former Days Inn at 3030 Main Ave. (Action Line)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>A new 47-room \u201cnature-based\u201d hotel is set to open this month on north Main Avenue at the site of the former Days Inn.<\/p>\n<p>The Hansji Corp., which has owned the former Days Inn property since 2022, announced in January 2024 it would convert the site at 3030 Main Ave. into the first Boundary by Terra Vi hotel, called Boundary by Terra Vi, Durango.<\/p>\n<p>Terra Vi, founded by Hansji in 2020, builds hotels \u201cperched in locations on the edge of nature,\u201d according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.terravi.com\/brands\/boundary-by-terra-vi\/\" id=\"link-af82aa23ddb47affb70912c73097807d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. The property is squeezed between north Main Avenue to the west and a neighborhood to the east.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"naviga-map\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=37.2980495%2C-107.8713223&amp;z=15&amp;output=embed\" width=\"100%\" height=\"400\" style=\"border:0;\" allowfullscreen loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Map\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n<p>The hotel includes private rooms and several communal gathering spaces.<\/p>\n<p>According to a news release from the company, the hotel will feature basic and deluxe rooms; a library with a vinyl listening lounge; a bar; a grab-and-go pantry; a shared \u201cnavigation table\u201d for expedition planning; a \u201cmindful movement\u201d room for yoga and meditation; and an outdoor terrace and fire circle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoundary Durango will be the ideal basecamp for experiencing the area\u2019s world-class outdoor activities and sightseeing,\u201d the release said.<\/p>\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=0c40c7d4-362c-5301-bf0d-ab2a4ede934d&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"637\" height=\"423\" alt=\"A guest room in the new Boundary by Terra Vi hotel located at 3030 Main Ave, rebranded and renovated from its former life as the Days Inn by Wyndham. In December of that year, the city\u2019s planning department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.durangoherald.com\/articles\/days-inn-extreme-makeover-coming-but-slowly\/\" id=\"link-0b9ec3a534aa8e0f48d9ae4f58377dfd\" target=\"_blank\">told <em id=\"emphasis-d4ca793b3f2b763b136e775a974a3a0f\">The Durango Herald<\/em><\/a> that updating the aging building was proving \u201ctricky,\u201d and that bringing it up to code and adding parking lot landscaping delayed the project.<\/p>\n<p>The building underwent \u201ca complete renovation of all guest rooms and public spaces,\u201d according to the company.<\/p>\n<p>Seattle-based architecture and interior design firm Degen &amp; Degen handled interior design work, and Durango-based firm Reynolds Ash + Associates Architecture &amp; Engineering, led by project architect Elizabeth Boone, took the lead on architectural work. Terra Vi\u2019s design team also contributed to the project.<\/p>\n<p>Official opening timelines have shifted several times.<\/p>\n<p>An original Jan. 29 opening date was temporarily pushed to February because of unexpected construction delays. As of Thursday, the hotel had reverted back to its original opening date of Jan. 29, a company spokesperson told the <em id=\"emphasis-7d7f873cbf1a99191f63e45c3c7d7728\">Herald<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Rates at Boundary Durango start at $119 for standard rooms and $189 for deluxe rooms.<\/p>\n<p>Boundary Durango joins similar adventure-themed models in Durango, including Adventure Inn Durango and Junction Hotel and Hostel.<\/p>\n<p>Junction\u2019s website calls the hotel a \u201cbudget-friendly and cozy accommodation for adventure enthusiasts exploring the southwest,\u201d and offers hostel- and hotel-style accommodations. A single room with two queen beds at Junction costs $80 to $100 per night, with a hostel bed in a shared room going for around $30.<\/p>\n<p>The Adventure Inn Durango, which does not offer hostel-style accommodations, offers a standard room with two queen beds for around $110 per night.<\/p>\n<p>The Boundary by Terra Vi Durango location is the first of many, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Additional properties by Terra Vi are planned to open near the Grand Canyon and Yosemite in 2027 and in Glacier National Park, Montana, in 2028. Terra Vi also owns the Marble Canyon Lodge, situated along the Colorado River and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
