A $40 million tax for \u201cfiber to every home in the county\u201d \u2026 or \u201cbroadband to every rooftop\u201d \u2026 or some such thing. A tax for \u201croad Improvements\u201d with no specific proposals for where, when and how much. \u201cJust give us the money!\u201d A tax for more \u201claw enforcement\u201d resources, again with no specifics.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all fine, though \u2013 the tourists will have to pay their share (dang outsiders), as will we all who live and shop here.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, county leaders have turned away from solar generation possibilities, which do indeed generate revenues. Opposed by some of their landowner cronies and supported by others, they can\u2019t make a decision, so instead they do nothing. Deer in the headlights.<\/p>\n<p>Their loyal supporters will bitterly continue to complain about their property tax increases while voting against the sales tax increase, as they\u2019ve always done.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s the future plan for life here in Montezuma County?
