{"id":13881,"date":"2026-01-20T13:40:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-20T20:40:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/victim-in-farmington-attempted-murder-case-disappears\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T03:41:04","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T03:41:04","slug":"victim-in-farmington-attempted-murder-case-disappears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/victim-in-farmington-attempted-murder-case-disappears\/","title":{"rendered":"Victim in Farmington attempted-murder case disappears"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=602bc82f-e05e-5ba6-85bd-9b6f8d359f95&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" alt=\"Cochise Hayes\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"caption\">Cochise Hayes<\/span><span class=\"credit\">cca<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>The trial of a Farmington man accused of kidnapping and attempted murder of his girlfriend learned Tuesday that prosecutors have lost contact with the woman.<\/p>\n<p>Cochise Hayes, 33, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, aggravated battery against a household member and tampering with evidence, according to court records.<\/p>\n<p>The charges stem from a July 14 incident at a home in the 2300 block of West Apache Street, where the 31-year-old woman reportedly was held against her will and \u201cwas extremely battered all over her body to the point of her face being disfigured,\u201d the affidavit for arrest warrant says.<\/p>\n<p>The woman\u2019s neighbor alerted police at 5 a.m. when the woman came to their home and reportedly was \u201cnaked with a swollen face,\u201d according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p>The woman reportedly told the neighbor, \u201cI don\u2019t want him to take me away,\u201d the affidavit says.<\/p>\n<p>Defense attorney Ian Jump told the 11th Judicial District Court on Monday that \u201cthe alleged victim \u2026 went out of state for treatment on her own.
