The Colorado Department of Education is seeking input from educators, parents, families, students and community members on proposed revisions<\/a> to the state\u2019s high school mathematics academic standards.<\/p>\n

The public comment period will remain open until Monday, Feb. 16.<\/p>\n

These academic standards outline what students should know and be able to do in mathematics to prepare for success in college, their future career or military service. The standards undergo revisions in subject-area groups on a six-year cycle, the CDE said in a news release. The 2026 cycle includes mathematics, comprehensive health, reading, writing and communicating and science.<\/p>\n

A 12-member high school mathematics standards review and revision committee<\/a> has been working on the updates since April 2025, and the proposed revisions were presented to the State Board of Education in January.<\/p>\n

Those who wish to submit feedback can do so in one of three ways: attend a virtual focus group on Zoom, complete a web-based survey or by e-mailing costandardsrevision@cde.state.co.us<\/a>. The survey<\/a> can be found online at https:\/\/bit.ly\/CDEmathsurvey.<\/p>\n

The department is hosting four virtual<\/a> focus groups. The first will be held on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m., followed by sessions on Monday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m.; Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 4:30 p.m.; and Thursday, Feb. 12, at 5 p.m. Registration is available on the department\u2019s website<\/a> at www.cdeinfo.org\/focusgroup.<\/p>\n
