If you are a fan of the television shows \u201cGlee\u201d and \u201cThe Sing Off,\u201d or want to know what all the fuss is about, this concert is a must. Are Vocaldente audience favorites, award winners, globetrotters, vocal artists and entertainers, or are they just plain old \u201csingers?\u201d Somehow all of these are fitting. But how best to describe Vocaldente? Their passion is an art almost lost in the entire vocal scene: conveying the feeling of musical entertainment in its most authentic way \u2013 purely acoustic, taking a cappella back to its roots. They combine the art of five trained voices with what critics call \u201cimaginative, passionate choreography\u201d and \u201cfunny spoken interludes\u201d for a great all-around show.<\/p>\n
So who are these five young men who, using their own ingenious arrangements, delight their audiences with the charm of the 1920s, the drive of the 1960s and the sound of contemporary radio? Coming together in 2004 from their beginnings in the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik and the Boys Choir of Hannover, Germany, Vocaldente has developed over the course of only a few short years into an internationally acclaimed and sought-after vocal ensemble.<\/p>\n
In 2007 and 2008, they won first prizes at several renowned international a cappella competitions, including Audience Favorite and Champion of the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival, the premier contest for top-notch a cappella talent in the US.<\/p>\n
Now, more than 100 concerts and appearances per year are on the program of this quintet that takes them throughout their homeland of Germany, across Europe and on extensive and repeated tours of the U.S. as well as Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.<\/p>\n
Praise has followed the performances of this group: The Hannoversche Zeitung said: \u201cThe applause was thunderous after two hours of pure vocal art.\u201c The S\u00fcdkurier Online said,:\u201cWhen a handful of voices transform into an orchestra, you can be sure they belong to the five guys from Hannover.\u201d Their appearance here in November is part of a 16 concert tour in the central states of the US.<\/p>\n
Two additional concerts round out the SouthWest Colorado Concerts 2013\/2014 season. Pianist Charlie Albright, winner of the prestigious 2010 Gilmore Young Artist Award and hailed by the Washington Post as being \u201camong the most gifted musicians of his generation,\u201d performs Monday, March 3, 2014 at 7 p.m. The series closes with the Golden Dragon Acrobats, the 26 member world famous Chinese acrobats, on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
Tickets are available at the door Nov. 12 starting at 6:30 p.m. Season tickets are $45\/adult and $10\/youth, 18 years old and younger. Single concert tickets are also available for $20\/adult and $5\/youth.<\/p>\n
