After years of honing his swing at Conquistador Golf Course, one of Cortez\u2019s top prep golfers is taking his talents to Missouri.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 15, Jakob Rudosky became the latest Montezuma-Cortez High School golfer to secure a spot on a college roster, signing a national letter of intent to play golf at Missouri Western State University.<\/p>\n

For Rudosky, the commitment followed a brilliant senior season that saw the Dolores High School senior win the West Slope Regional Championship and finish fifth overall in the Colorado 4A State Tournament.<\/p>\n

A four time state qualifier, Rudosky enjoyed a great deal of success over his high school career and will look to help Missouri Western State\u2019s golf program continue to grow.<\/p>\n

According to Rudosky, his decision to attend Missouri Western State, a Division II school that competes in the Mid American Athletic Association, was based on a variety of factors, including campus size, golf facilities and academic opportunities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe campus was nice, the golf course was nice and their coach is a good guy,\u201d said Rudosky. \u201cThat\u2019s all that I was really looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about the factors contributing to his success on the links, Rudosky responded that hard work, family and community have all played a role.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the years of hard work, it is definitely worth it now,\u201d said Rudosky. \u201cI\u2019ve been playing ever since I could walk, so now that I\u2019m (signing), it is definitely awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c(Jakob) has been here on the course growing up,\u201d added M-CHS head golf coach Micah Rudosky. \u201cHe has put in a lot of time. He is following in the footsteps of guys that we have had in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

Between now and the start of college next fall, Rudosky will continue perfecting his swing in addition to playing basketball for Dolores High School.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be my last year playing basketball,\u201d said Rudosky. \u201cI\u2019m just going to enjoy it and have some fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

Certainly a sold goal for one of the area\u2019s finest prep athletes who, as a result of hard work and dedication, will soon be representing his community at the next level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
