The Animal Planet preproduction crew came to area Nov. 23, and the production crew arrived two weeks later, the coordinator for the film office, Lisa Schwantes, said.<\/p>\n
The production team of about 25 people requested a stage coach from the office and may have used them to re-enact some area legends, she said. They were also looking to shoot a town hall scene, and she suggested Mancos and Silverton.<\/p>\n
Last week, the crew shot aerial footage, and this week they planned on shooting in the Four Corners Monument area, she said. They planned to be in area for about two weeks, she said.<\/p>\n
The Animal Planet crew initially called the Durango Chamber of Commerce to decide whether they wanted to stay in Durango or Farmington. The chamber immediately put them in touch with Schwantes, who brought them to the area. The film office in Durango was created two years ago specifically for this purpose.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur office wants to help attract productions, be a liaison to the services and attract that economic impact,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Schwantes said the show may attract tourists \u2013 most likely, Bigfoot believers investigating local legends featured on the show.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s just some intrigue and mystic to that whole legend,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
