Valdez will next match up against Center High School\u2019s Jeremiah Moreno (24-2).<\/p>\n<p>Martinez wins to advance in consolation bracket<\/p>\n<p>Unwilling to concede defeat, Bears\u2019 sophomore Richard Martinez advanced to the third round of the consolation bracket, defeating Byers High School\u2019s Dalton Eldringhoff 5-4.<\/p>\n<p>Martinez will next face off against Rocky Ford\u2019s Jeremy Fraser (30-7) on Feb. 22.<\/p>\n<p>Medina eliminated after second loss<\/p>\n<p>Competing in the second round of the consolation bracket, Bears\u2019 freshman Tristan Medina was pinned by Lyons High School\u2019s William Hickman.<\/p>\n<p>With the loss, Medina was eliminated from the state tournament.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Green\/Cortez Journal&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Deano Valdez takes down Trinton Armintrout on the way to a 11-3 win.du1-i-syn Upton loses in state semifinals Wrestling in the 2A state semifinals, Bears\u2019 182-pound senior Ethen Upton was narrowly beaten, 4-2, by Swink High School\u2019s Brody Wisemon.
