{"id":121516,"date":"2014-02-28T00:50:26","date_gmt":"2014-02-28T07:50:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/driver-escapes-injury-after-hitting-semi\/"},"modified":"2014-02-28T00:50:26","modified_gmt":"2014-02-28T07:50:26","slug":"driver-escapes-injury-after-hitting-semi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/driver-escapes-injury-after-hitting-semi\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver escapes injury after hitting semi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A Colorado State Patrol spokesperson said Audrey McClain, of Pleasant View, was driving southbound when her Ford Ranger hit the side of the semi after she swerved to avoid hitting an animal.<\/p>\n<p>She was cited for careless driving.<\/p>\n<p>The accident occurred close to Mile Marker 32, near Lewis, about 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24.<\/p>\n<p>McClain and a passenger suffered only minor injuries, including scrapes, bruises and a bloody nose, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw the Ford,\u201d David Delozier posted on the Cortez Journal\u2019s Facebook page. \u201cI was sure someone was critically injured or worse.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The semitrailer, from El Paso, Texas, was not carrying hazardous material, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>According to dispatch reports updated by emergency crews on the scene, both lanes of traffic were closed for nearly an hour.
