The full-ride merit-based scholarship will cover virtually all her college expenses when she enrolls at Fort Lewis College this fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could not be more grateful to the Boettcher Foundation for granting me this opportunity to pursue my passions in life,\u201d said Lock. \u201cIt is wonderful to know that the foundation is supporting me in my educational endeavors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of only 40 2014 Boettcher Foundation Scholars, Lock said she intends to pursue an English degree. She\u2019s also interested in Spanish as well as gender studies.<\/p>\n<p>Boettcher Foundation president and executive director Tim Schultz said this year\u2019s scholars represent some of the most promising young people in Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal of the Boettcher scholarship program is to keep the best talent in Colorado here by connecting them with the outstanding opportunities offered by our in-state institutions,\u201d Schultz said. \u201cWe know that these students will become leaders on their campuses and continue serving others with their gifts, thereby contributing to the greater Colorado community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than 1,600 students applied for the scholarship. Lock\u2019s award includes full tuition, fees, a book allowance and even an annual stipend for living expenses.
