Located in Rangely, the school and team appealed to Schwartz for a variety of reasons.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Rangely\u2019s) small-town feeling attracted me,\u201d said Schwartz, the daughter of Larry and Michelle Schwartz. \u201cI\u2019m excited to be back on the court again. I\u2019m looking forward to playing with a new team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coached by Brian Ortmeier, Colorado Northwestern hopes to utilize an up-tempo attack, which, according to Ortmeier, will suit Schwartz\u2019s talents well.<\/p>\n
In addition to Schwartz\u2019s athleticism and commitment to defense, the senior\u2019s academic successes rendered her a must-sign prospect for Colorado Northwestern.<\/p>\n
\u201cI thought very highly of Brianna\u2019s game and what she can do not only as an athlete, but also in the classroom,\u201d said Ortmeier. \u201cShe really fits with our program and that\u2019s why we recruited her.\u201d<\/p>\n
As a senior, Schwartz led the Bears in scoring with 19.3 points per game. Schwartz also enjoyed a stellar volleyball season, qualified for the state track meet and was selected to play in the Colorado Coaches of Girls\u2019 Sports All-State Basketball game.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn a lot of ways, (Brianna\u2019s) work ethic led our team,\u201d said Bears head coach Tim Kercher. \u201cShe worked really hard last summer and had a great year.
