{"id":120070,"date":"2014-05-22T21:51:10","date_gmt":"2014-05-23T03:51:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/csd-brings-back-member\/"},"modified":"2014-05-22T21:51:10","modified_gmt":"2014-05-23T03:51:10","slug":"csd-brings-back-member","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/csd-brings-back-member\/","title":{"rendered":"CSD brings back member"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Newly elected board members of the Cortez Sanitation District voted to re-instate board member Jim Candelaria during a special meeting Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Candelaria was ousted by the previous board after they passed a controversial ordinance prohibiting him from serving his board term while a candidate for the Montezuma County Commission.<\/p>\n<p>A motion to revoke the ordinance passed 3-1, with newly elected board members Ryan Griglak, Tim Robinson, and Ray Fox voting yes, and board member John Stramel voting no.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hard to find people who want to serve, and I don\u2019t want to discriminate against someone who wants to be on the board,\u201d Robinson said.<\/p>\n<p>The now defunct resolution claimed a director holding another public office \u201cmay inhibit\u201d the board member\u2019s \u201ctime and attention\u201d and \u201cmay lead\u201d to conflicts of interests.<\/p>\n<p>It also forced board members to relinquish their post if they refuse to subscribe to an oath of office, are convicted of a felony, submits a written resignation, ceases to be qualified, fails to attend three consecutive meetings without board approval or dies.<\/p>\n<p>Candelaria was the lone opposition to the ordinance against him, describing it as arbitrary and \u201cchildish.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI never resigned, and I felt the resolution was illegal,\u201d Candelaria said. \u201cI accept re-instatement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He was given the oath of office, returned to his seat on the board, and got down to business analyzing a bid for concrete services.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Candelaria reinstated in 3-1 board vote<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[5736,5735],"tags":[13],"naviga_topic":[],"class_list":["post-120070","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","category-news","tag-frontpage-lead"],"acf":[],"author_name":"dh_admin","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/120070","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=120070"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/120070\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=120070"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=120070"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=120070"},{"taxonomy":"naviga_topic","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/naviga_topic?post=120070"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
