Just which is the state\u2019s \u201cbest adventure town\u201d?<\/p>\n

Elevation Outdoors wants to know. The online version of the Boulder-based magazine is running the contest through Aug. 1. Results will be revealed in the September issue.<\/p>\n

The rules are a little sketchy, but basically you can go to www.elevationoutdoors.com\/colorado-adventure-towns and start voting. A Journal reporter started voting at random, waiting for Cortez to appear in one of the head-to-head matchups. It took fewer than 10 seven matchups for Cortez to pop up vs. Vail. Hmmm, tough choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pit 45 of the best towns head-to-head at random and ask you to choose between them until we have a winner,\u201d Elevation Outdoors explains on its website.<\/p>\n

Among the 45 towns in the running are Durango, Pagosa Springs, South Fork, Silverton, Ouray, Ridgway and Telluride.<\/p>\n

Cortez, according to Elevation Outdoors, has \u201cSan Juans on one side, Colorado Plateau desert on the other; Mesa Verde National Park; home of Osprey Packs.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vail boasts of \u201cBack Bowls; whitewater and fly fishing right in town; GoPro Mountain Games.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
