If she wasn\u2019t feeding or tending to her many \u201ccritters\u201d she was either cooking or poring over one of her many cookbooks that she loved reading.<\/p>\n<p>Jo spent many years working in the Texas school district. Her gift was working with special-needs children and making a difference in their lives. Jo lived in many places throughout her life leaving an impact on those who came to know her, she will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n<p>Jo was proceeded in death by her sister, Mel Bland; her infant son, Steven Hager; daughter, Susan (Hager) Greer; both of her parents and her husband, Otis Glenn Carter. She is survived by her two sisters and their husbands, Lou and Alvin Springmeyer, Mary and Joe Mahaffey; two sons, Rodger and Sam Hager; daughters, Sheila (Hager) Porter and her husband, Norman; Paula (Hager) Ibos; her step children, Frank Carter and April (Carter) Frank. Jo also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends.<\/p>\n<p>Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Sunset Mesa Funeral Directors (970) 240-9870.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jo loved her family, animals and cooking.
