The Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office has announced that a Dolores man has been determined to be a sexual violent predator.<\/p>\n

Dustin Wall, 25, pleaded guilty to felony attempt to commit sexual assault by overcoming the victim\u2019s will and misdemeanor third-degree assault on June 12. Court records reveal the 36-year-old victim didn\u2019t consent when attacked at a Dolores hotel on April 23.<\/p>\n

According to court records, Wall was granted a deferred sentence of 48 months of supervised probation, which includes sex offender treatment, random drug test, a curfew and registration as a convicted sex offender. Officials said he served 106 days in jail and was fined $6,366.50.<\/p>\n

Montezuma County Sheriff Dennis Spruell said Wall was listed as a sexually violent predator after a criminal justice review board determined that he presented a \u201chigh potential to re-offend.\u201d Spruell cautioned the community not to intimidate, threaten or harass Wall, saying that a stable offender increased community safety.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t want sexually violent predators to go underground,\u201d said Spruell. \u201cWe don\u2019t want them to go into hiding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Probation officer Rhonda Eppard said Wall is not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18, is barred from the Internet and possessing or purchasing firearms, is subject to a minimum of two annual polygraph tests and must refrain from visiting schools, parks and other areas where children gather.<\/p>\n

Sheriff officials said Wall\u2019s current residence was more than 10 miles away from the nearest school.<\/p>\n

In Colorado, there are 16,678 registered sex offenders. An additional 1,291 have failed to register or have a history of failing to register as sex offenders. Eighty-seven registered sex offenders reside in Montezuma County.<\/p>\n
