If you\u2019re having a hard time getting in the Christmas spirit, a visit to Mancos this weekend should do the trick. Again, the town will offer up an \u201cOlde Fashioned Christmas,\u201d which is full of a variety of events to get just about anybody in the holiday spirit.<\/p>\n
The first event in Mancos starts off with the \u201cChristmas on the Trail,\u201d Friday, Dec. 5 from 5 to 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
There will be the Annual Western Gear Show, and the Rockin\u2019 W Chuckwagon will park right in front of the Goodnight Trail Gallery on Main Street and serve up homemade chili, sopapillas and coffee on the street.<\/p>\n
Lynne \u201cBelle\u201d Lewis will sing inside the gallery. Several western artists will also be set up inside including: Ann Schwarting\u2019s contemporary western jewelry, Nathaniel\u2019s Custom Hats, Don Cook\u2019s custom spurs and Steve Williams of Cowboy Forge with all kinds of hand-forged decorations and gifts for Christmas, while the gallery will feature miniature pieces.<\/p>\n
Also on Friday, Santa arrives, with the tree lighting at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Park, which is across from Fahrenheit Coffee.<\/p>\n
Rena Wilson, president of the Mancos Chamber of Commerce, said the tree lighting is not to be missed. Also Friday, at 6 p.m. is the Rudolph Run.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a mile-and-a-half run, for kids or adults,\u201d Wilson said. \u201cKids run around town dressed like reindeer.\u201d<\/p>\n
And if that doesn\u2019t get you in the spirit, Saturday, Dec. 6 from 4 to 6 p.m., there will be a wine and cheese social hosted by the Mancos Valley Historical Society at 145 W. Grand Ave.<\/p>\n
Starting at 6 p.m., there will be downtown caroling by horse-drawn wagon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe haven\u2019t done the caroling in a few years, so we are bringing that back,\u201d Wilson said.<\/p>\n
Also new this year is the breaking of the pi\u00f1ata and snowman building contest at Grand and Main Corner Park at 4 p.m. on Dec. 13.<\/p>\n

Wilson says that if you plan on attending the Mancos Valley Chorus show to be there early because the seats fill up fast.<\/p>\n
