{"id":116147,"date":"2014-12-02T00:30:43","date_gmt":"2014-12-02T07:30:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/sheriff-wants-residents-to-report-large-pot-grows-2\/"},"modified":"2014-12-02T00:30:43","modified_gmt":"2014-12-02T07:30:43","slug":"sheriff-wants-residents-to-report-large-pot-grows-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/sheriff-wants-residents-to-report-large-pot-grows-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sheriff wants residents to report large pot grows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Montezuma County Sheriff\u2019s Office is asking residents to report large-scale home marijuana grows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the biggest regulatory hurdles in Colorado is the allowance of home grows, loopholes that allow for nearly unlimited plant counts and a lack of regulation of massive grow operations, which often exist in residential neighborhoods,\u201d according to the Nov. 25 post on the sheriff\u2019s Facebook page.\u201cAll of these factors combine to create a great deal of confusion to local law enforcement and local governments,\u201d the post added.<\/p>\n<p>The post added that it was difficult to determine whether home grows were legal because of \u201cambiguous laws regarding marijuana cultivation and sales.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under Colorado law, an adult is allowed to grow up to six marijuana plants at home. No more than a dozen plants are allowed per residence regardless of the number of adults living there.<\/p>\n<p>The law also limits home marijuana production to fully enclosed and locked spaces, indoors or outdoors.
