Bauer.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s event is Thursday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>It is an event not to be missed, and the community is invited to celebrate the contributions the Citizen of the Year has made to the Mancos Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, nominations were opened for the 2014 Citizen of Year.<\/p>\n<p>A committee was formed to decide who among all the nominees should receive community recognition for their work in the Mancos Valley. The Citizen of the Year Committee is made up of community members and the previous year\u2019s recipient who chairs the committee.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s winner was the Lion\u2019s Club.<\/p>\n<p>No need ask anyone in town who is the recipient is \u2013 it is a closely guarded secret.<\/p>\n<p>You will just have to go to the event on Thursday to find out.<\/p>\n<p>The Citizen of the Year Committee makes its decision about who should be recognized based upon how the nominee\u2019s contributions have helped to make the Mancos Valley a better place to live.<\/p>\n<p>The 2012 winner was the Mancos Fire Department, following their work on the Weber Fire.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations can be for an individual like a neighbor, teacher, grocery store clerk, fireman, student, nurse, hairdresser, waitress, aunt or uncle or for, that matter, an organization.<\/p>\n<p>There will be refreshments catered by Absolute Bakery, Bubba\u2019s Real Texas BBQ, P&amp;D Grocery and Zuma Natural Foods this year and some great opportunities to see friends.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-scoreboard\">\n<h4 class=\"scoreboard-title\">Previous winners<\/h4>\n<p>1.
