{"id":114439,"date":"2015-02-18T22:15:58","date_gmt":"2015-02-19T05:15:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/driver-dies-on-u-s-491\/"},"modified":"2015-02-18T22:15:58","modified_gmt":"2015-02-19T05:15:58","slug":"driver-dies-on-u-s-491","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/driver-dies-on-u-s-491\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver dies on U.S. 491"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:def39669-6a48-4d63-bd25-100831b339ef --><\/p>\n<p>One person was pronounced dead Wednesday morning after a collision on U.S. Highway 491 north of Pleasant View.<\/p>\n<p>Robert Thompson, 82, of Dove Creek, the driver of a 2003 Ford Escape, was pronounced dead on the scene after his northbound SUV crossed the center line about 10:19 a.m. and collided with a southbound 2012 Dodge Ram four-door flatbed pickup.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the Dodge Ram, Touria Berrada, 30, of Pleasant View, was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital and was treated and released for her injuries Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>There were no passengers in either vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWitnesses say (the Ford Escape) abruptly swerved into the southbound lane,\u201d said Trooper Jonathan Silver, of the Colorado State Patrol, which investigated the collision.<\/p>\n<p>An autopsy revealed that Thompson died of natural causes.
